Don’t Waste your Time Blogging

We have finally ushered into the eighth month of the year and obviously those resolutions we made during the beginning of the year had already being broken.

Those who were as fat as Yokosuna and planned to loose weight during the beginning of the year I’m sure have now added more extra pounds than necessary.

They now weigh more than expected. It is one thing achieving your goal and the other thing day dreaming. And one thing about day dreaming is that they always end on a happy note but the funny thing is that it is only a dream. And dreams aren’t achieved with eyes closed and great imaginations imagined.

It involves hard work and discipline so you don’t waste your time blogging if…. but don’t you think it will be prudent to introduce to you to Little Johnny? (My good friend whom you’re likely to find in all my posts here).

When Little Johnny was studying law at the University College of London, a white professor, whose last name was Peters, disliked him intensely and always displayed prejudice and animosity towards him.

Also, because Little Johnny never lowered his head when addressing him as he expected, there were always “arguments” and confrontations.

One day, Mr. Peters was having lunch at the dining room of the University, and Little Johnny came along with his tray and sat next to the professor. The professor said, “Little Johnny, you do not understand. A pig and a bird do not sit together to eat.”

Little Johnny looked at him as a parent would to a rude child and calmly replied, “You do not worry professor. I’ll fly away,” and he went and sat at another table.

Mr. Peters, reddened with rage, decided to take revenge on the next test paper, but Little Johnny responded brilliantly to all questions.

Mr. Peters, unhappy and frustrated, asked him the following question. “Little Johnny, if you were walking down the street and found a package, and within was a bag of wisdom and another bag with a lot of money, which one would you take?”

Without hesitating, Little Johnny responded, “The one with the money, of course.”

Mr. Peters, smiling sarcastically said, “I, in your place, would have taken the wisdom, don’t you think?”

Little Johnny shrugged indifferently and responded, “Each one takes what he doesn’t have.”

Mr. Peters, by this time was fit to be tied. So great was his anger that he wrote on Little Johnny’s exam sheet the word “idiot” and gave it to him.

Little Johnny took the exam sheet and sat down at his desk, trying very hard to remain calm while he contemplated his next move.

A few minutes later, Little Johnny got up, went to the professor and said to him in a dignified but sarcastically polite tone, “Mr. Peters, you signed the sheet, but you did not give me the grade.”

Hahaha! Mr. Peters has of course signed the paper but where was the mark? I don’t any trouble oo, let me move back to business as usual and talk on the issue on board; don’t waste your time blogging.

Why shouldn’t waste your time blogging?

1. If you don’t have the time

It will be a big shame seeing your blog going down the drain because of lack of time. So you see, don’t venture into blogging when you don’t have the time.

2. Free things are the most dangerous things online

When it comes to something free, I think it is only wordpress who thanks it users for using it. Have you seen that ‘ ‘Thank You for using WordPress’ but when it comes to hosting; free can kill you really fast.
Don’t waste your time blogging when you go in for free hosting.

3. No Discipline

Why bother yourself with blogging when you don’t have the discipline to continue writing day in and day out even when you don’t feel like writing.

Your Turn

I need to answer a call now and I think it will be prudent for you to take over with your comments. Please feel free to comment below with your comment.

Please your thoughts are very well welcomed. Why shouldn’t one waste his or her time blogging? That is a question posed to you as well.

    Hi There Kabenlah,

I’ve came here after a very long time, been busy working on some other blogs.

So yeah, you’ve come up with some great points but I still don’t feel that I’m wasting my time blogging. It’s my passion and I love to follow it. Though I too fail to get enough time for blogging but as they say one have to learn to manage time and that’s what I’m into these days.

    Thanks for this post.
    Have a great week ahead.

    My dear,
To be candid with you, its not easy at all. I did felt the way you described here this past weekend. I wanted to write but i didn’t have the zeal to but, that was not the first time I’ve felt that way.

I only had to encourage myself as to why i should continue but overall, blogging is not an easy task at all yet, its not a do or die affair.

    Thanks for sharing.

      Hello Theodore,

Encouraging yourself really matters a lot to survive as a blogger.Blogging is of course not an easy task at all.
I believe we are of course going to make it at the end or will die trying.

    Hi Emmanuel,

Your story was very inspirational. I found myself getting upset and somewhat emotional over the professor’s idiocy!

However, Little Johnny was wise in how he responded and interacted with this idiot! It was brilliant.

The way you used the story is smart. It set me up to think about all the idiots that want the results without the work, trials, and challenges that come along with it.

When the going gets tough will you stay with it in light of the challenges or quit just because of others who don’t believe in you?

That was one of the main points I walked away with… you have to believe in yourself. If you don’t, no one will do it for you. You have to earn it.

    Great post Emmanuel.

    Hello Emma,
You have said it all, the success of any business is the amount of time and effort you put in them, that is what grows it and makes it stronger to survive and blogging is no exception.

I clearly understand that sometimes some bloggers don’t really have the ample time to spend on their blog even though it is worth it.. I hear people say blogging is not easy, it is true but on the other way round if you like something you try to make it easy for you !! Thank you for the share ..

    Hi Emmanuel

What a wonderful preface I ever read of a post full of stire, humour and a little bitterness for those who don’t want to accept the reality. Such prejudices still prevail not of white-versus-black but mostly of rich-versus-poor all over the world.

Now let’s come to the subject matter of the post.
I think if one has already started a blog and posted a few posts on it then he must try to continue it by trimming his posting frequency as lesser as possible and avoiding to waste time on social media also.

Yes if he gets something more promising than blogging as his career he should not think twice to quit blogging.
Thanks a lot for sharing another very entertaining post.

    Hi Kabenlah,

Glad to be here after my break. :)
    Interesting post!

Indeed, blogging is very time-consuming. If we are not ready to make time for blogging, I thought, would be better if you stop blogging. I’ve felt it myself, how much time should I give for blogging. It would be incalculable I guess. 😀

Thanks for sharing this motivating article, Kabenlah.
And as usual, Little Johnny is a smart one :)
Do have a wonderful week ahead.

  10. Akaahan Terungwa

    Hello Emmanuel,

Blogging is like any other business – just that it is virtual. It saddens me to see a great blog go down the drain as ‘just another WP site’ because of neglect, lack of time or poor discipline. It is really pathetic.

But on the flip side, a very busy person could hire another freelancer to maintain his/her blog. For a time, I did that job for a number of clients before I changed focus and switched course. What do you think?

    Make the day great!

  13. Joy Healey

    Hi Emmanuel

Time is a big challenge for me, so I’ve cut down on what I was expecting myself to do!

This may seem counter-intuitive, but by setting myself more realistic tasks I’m better able to achieve them.

Also I actually add them into my Google calendar and won’t go to bed until I’ve done the daily blogging task. So I comment daily, but no longer write a daily post as that was too much to achieve.

Really enjoyed Little Johnny’s answers. What a great way to make your blog stand out – I’m already looking forward to reading his next adventure!
